Porsche Boxster 987 / Cayman NHP Cat-Back Exhaust System "V2"
Fitment Guide
06-08 Cayman/S
05-09 Boxster/S
This is the "V2" Exhaust we have made some adjustment for even better fitment, after our first production we noticed some areas that needed revision during fitment and they have been done. The internals and design remain the same.
987 Boxster/S and Cayman/S NHP Cat-Back Exhaust System, fully constructed with T304 Stainless Steel, amazing high quality welds, mandrel bent tubing, stainless steel flanges, heat shields on tubing to protect suspension against high heat, heavy duty muffler support clamps.
We have made 2 versions of this exhaust, one version being catless (No secondary catalytic converters) and another version with tri-metal 200 cells catalytic converters. Please read more below about the 2 versions.
Version 1
This exhaust is a straight through piping system, the second set of catalytic converters found on the factory system is deleted, by deleting the secondary cats it helped achieve a more aggressive sounding exhaust when this exhaust is installed with the factory headers. This exhaust will not trigger any check engine lights as the O2 sensors monitor the first set of catalytic converters only, they do not monitor the second set of catalytic converters.
Version 2
This exhaust is a straight through piping system, it is fitted with tri-metal 200 cells sport catalytic converters, we have built this version for several reasons, those who use catless headers and wish to retain catalytic converters this is a good solution and you don't have to worry about having an exhaust that is too loud or that drones and of course a good thing for the environment, it's not so cool now days to run completely catless, we have also developed a set of catless headers to match it with the version 2 exhaust, the catless headers are available (PLEASE HIT YOUR BACK BROWSER BUTTON TO SEE THEM) , you can also retain the stock configuration by running this exhaust with factory headers this setup is what we call the performance green setup, since that it will use all 4 catalytic converters like the factory setup. For those of you who will run catless headers we have an O2 sensor bung after the catalytic converter on the mufflers so that you can relocate the post primary cat O2 sensor, you will need to extend the wiring on the O2 sensor to achieve this, please note that by running catless headers with our version 2 exhaust even if you relocate the downstream O2 sensor there is a possibility that you will encounter Check Engine Light issues, there is no guarantees that you won't.
Version 1 & 2
We have developed this exhaust system to use all factory mounting points, no drilling, no modifications required, this exhaust will bolt up to the factory headers or aftermarket headers. There is only one tiny mod to do the the OEM T-Pipe clamps, this is covered in our installation instructions, again tiny nothing major.
One important factor that we worked on was to get no Cabin Drone, as many know they are many good quality and good sounding exhausts out there but one major problem is the drone, it's nice to get big sound for the first two weeks, after that it becomes annoying and unpleasant, well you can say bye bye to that kind of results, the NHP exhaust when compared to stock has no drone, this exhaust produce more or less same interior cabin noise as the factory exhaust. How did we achieve that? With unique internal piping design inside our mufflers.
What can you expect from this exhaust? Well we consider this exhaust to be a low key exhaust, what we mean is that on idle and cruising speed it sounds good nothing crazy or too aggressive, but when you step on it at WOT that's when the most beautiful sound is achieved that's when you get satisfied, in other words when you ask for it and step on it that's when it sounds the most aggressive and sounds really good, at cruising speed you will like it as well it sounds better then stock but not to aggressive. Look at it this way if you need to make a phone call at cruising speed its possible, you want to talk to the passenger you could. For those of you who are looking for a highly agressive exhaust at all RPM range this exhaust is not for you.
How does the car perform with this exhaust? We can guarantee you that no low end power or high end power is lost, it responds just as good as the stock version if not better, what we highly recommend is to combine this exhaust with some software tuning to fully take advantage of this exhaust. Our main goal with this exhaust was to achieve a nice sounding exhaust with no cabin drone and to at least match or exceed factory power.
We have done some dyno testing using a Dynapak Dyno Machine which is an accurate Dyno Machine. We have 5.8 HP Gains and 14.6 FT/LBS Gains, the dyno is the Version 1 Exhaust with factory headers. We have not done any dynos for Version 2 Exhaust.
NHP Version 1 Dyno Run
264.6 HP @ 6253 RPM
236.3 FT/LBS @ 4406 RPM

FAQ
Q-Will you produce headers with sport cats? A-We have produced a set during our development phase and we could not improve over the factory design, the gains were very minimal, at times we also experienced small loss of power on different runs, we consider the factory headers to be well designed and we don't see why a consumer should pay it ain't worth it, we must admit that the exhaust sounded a little more aggressive but not worth the extra dollars.
Q-Will you produce catless headers A-For those of you who wish to use Version 2 Exhaust we have developed catless headers they will be available at the end of June 2009
Q-Can I use my factory exhaust tip?
A-Yes you can
Q-Can I use an aftermarket exhaust tip other then NHP?
A- Yes as long as it has the same inlet diameter as the factory exhaust tip.
Q-I purchased the NHP Exhaust Tip will the tip fit? A-Yes it's the same tip used on this exhaust, you can purchase Version 1 or Version 2 without the tip.
