If you want the best mufflers for your 996 look no further. NHP Exhaust has designed mufflers with sound valves for the Porsche 996 Carrera 3.4L/3.6L , these are by far the highest quality mufflers available for your 996 on the market today, from the quality of construction, materials and sound they produce these are the best period, stop searching and comparing there is no comparison. With a simple push of a button these will give you the aggressive sport sound you're Porsche deserves with another push of a button you will get a much better sounding exhaust compared to the factory exhaust but more of a low key sports car, you get the best of both worlds. These mufflers will install using the factory muffler supports, no modifications are needed to install these. We have built these with the finest 304 Stainless Steel, superb high quality welds, flexible connecting pipe and ribbed sheet of stainless steel for the muffler can which makes them indestructible. The sound is controlled via a FOB remote or can be controlled by a switch, both methods will work (see "about installation" below) These muffler include the necessary installation kit to control the sound valves, this kit is made up of control module with electrical wiring, remote control, vacuum solenoid, vacuum line and vacuum hardware (connecting T's). Please see "about installation" below.
We highly recommend that you match these with our 200 cells catalytic converters for optimal sound and performance.
About installation
About time of installation this will depend on how you want to control the muffler valves.
FOB Remote. The easiest and quickest way is to use the FOB remote to control the valves, this means that you don't need to make any holes anywhere to mount a switch on the dashboard area and this also means that you don't need to get electrical wiring from the dashboard area all the way to the engine bay compartment. Approx time of installation 3 Hours.
Dashboard mounted switch. The muffler valves can also be controlled with a simple on/off switch that can be installed pretty much anywhere where it makes sense to you, that can be on the trim underneath the handbrake, the center console, on the steering wheel trim, on the side of the seat etc... in other words where you want it to be. This type of on/off switch can be purchased pretty much at any electronic store for a couple of dollars. This installation requires electrical wiring to be routed from the dashboard area to the engine bay, for a clean job the necessary trims will have to be removed so that no wires can be seen. Approx time of installation 4-5 Hours.
OEM Porsche exhaust switch. Porsche does have a switch that has an exhaust pipe logo on it, this switch will fit in one empty slot on your radio surround trim or on the lower trim of the center console, if you have an empty spot available this switch will give you a factory look, the part number is 996.613.987.10A05 (left side of the dash installation) or 996.613.988.10A05 (right side of the dash installation) this switch will run you approx $30 from your local Porsche dealer. This installation requires electrical wiring to be routed from the dashboard area to the engine bay, for a clean job the necessary trims will have to be removed so that no wires can be seen. Approx time of installation 4-5 Hours.

Muffler valves can alsobe adjusted if you want more sound at the closed position it is possible to open up the valves a little more, this is optional and not necessary.
