WHAT EXACTLY IS DONE OR WHAT DOES THIS PURCHASE INCLUDE
What we do is replace the webbing on your seatbelt retractors (the belt portion of it) we don’t use any dyes we replace the entire belt. We carefully remove the webbing without compromising or messing up with the mechanical retractor. Once we remove the black belt, we prepare the new webbing by having a professional upholstery guy use the correct threading and he stitches up the belt. We then install the new webbing in your seatbelt retractors.
We will return your factory webbing, however it will be cut so that we can re-use the hardware when upgrading your webbing. You can always revert to Black however you will have to pay for the service again.
ABOUT SENDING IN YOUR SEATBELT RETRACTORS
Step 1- First thing you need remove the seatbelt retractors from your car, if you are comfortable and know what you’re doing you can do this on your own however it’s always best to leave it to a qualified technician.
TIP when removing the seatbelt retractors on any Porsche year 2002 and up it is advised to disconnect the battery so that you don’t accidentally trigger the airbag malfunction light.
We also recommend that the person removing the seatbelt retractors take pictures before removal this will help you install them properly, note the position of the belt, note the anchor points, and finally mark your seatbelt retractors such has Front/Driver, Rear/Passenger
Step 2- You must send us the seatbelt retractors, depending on how much downtime you are willing to accept the downtime is all about the shipping time. Regardless of how you ship them to us we strongly advise that you purchase Insurance against loss or damage ($300 per seatbelt). Remember it’s your responsibility to make sure we receive them in good shape so please ship them out with proper packaging and insurance coverage.
TIP when shipping use newspaper or other fillers to fill in the box so that the seatbelt retractors don’t bounce around.
WHAT ABOUT A CORE EXCHANGE
Unfortunately we used to have a core exchange however the problem we encountered is that when the customers would send us their old seatbelts back after upgrading to our units some seatbelt buckles and anchors from the customers core exchange would show more wear or discoloration from UV Rays etc… so this was problematic for customers who sent us seatbelts that were practically new and end up with seatbelts that have discolored anchors or buckle that show more wear. We decided to put an end to the Core Exchange program mainly because of this issue.
On the other hand if you ask me I would rather prefer getting my original Retractors back rather than putting retractors from another car.
TIP if you don’t care about getting different retractors some of our customers will purchase used seatbelt retractors on eBay or Classifieds on discussion forums and stuff and they send them to us that way they retain their original retractors if they ever want to revert to stock.
ABOUT COLORS
We have done many cars locally and we always tell our customers that you will never get a perfect match in color, but the Red for example will blend in with your calipers or will definitely blend in with your car, our tones of colors are the nicest we can find.
WHY CAN’T YOU GET EXACT OEM COLORS
The reason is very simple, first is that the webbing we use is certified automotive webbing, which means that this webbing is suitable to use in a passenger car, it is equivalent or surpasses automotive industry norms, our supplier supplies OEM Manufacturer’s and due to the nature of this product this is the only webbing we trust and will work with. These are the only colors available that are certified. Certified means it is suitable to use in automotive restraint systems however keep in mind that once installed on your seatbelt retractors they have not been approved by by any other party.
OUR REDS
We have a Bright Red and a RED, the bright Red is more striking.
YELLOW
The yellow we have is a bright yellow
BLUE
The Blue we have is a dark blue more like a Royal Blue towards the purple.
GREY/SILVER
This color is more on the Grey side
LIME GREEN

FAQ’s
Q- Where do I send my seat belts?
A- Maxspeed-Motorsports LLC, 2151 NE 155th St Unit 8, North Miami Beach, FL 33162 USA
Q- I’m a little concerned about the whole safety thing?
A- As mentioned above we use similar high quality certified polyester webbing that is just as good and resistant as the factory original belts. We don’t touch the actual mechanism of the seat belt assembly.
Q- When you send my seat belts back do you return the factory belts?
A- Yes we do however if you ever need to revert back to black for whatever reason remember that you have to go through the same process again and the cost will be the same.
Q- Is it difficult to remove the seat belt assemblies from my car?
A- Well not really they are located behind trims, normally trims are secured by a few screws (one or two) and the rest of the trim is snapped in. The seat belt assembly will normally be secured by 3 x 17mm bolts at 3 different locations. One at the lower frame side (next to your seat), one at the pillar and one behind the trim, that’s the bolt that secures the seat belt mechanism.
Q- Do you have instructions for trim removal?
A- No we don’t, you can call us for advice and tips or you can search the popular Porsche forums.
Q- How long does it take to remove the seat belts from my car?
A- Typically a 911 approx 1 to 2 hours for a Coupe and 3 hours for a Cab and for a Boxster/Cayman 30 minutes.
Q- Do you install the black pin that stops the buckle from falling all the way down to the floor when the belt is not used?
A- Yes, we use the same black pins like the original belts.
Q- Do you guarantee that my seat belts will be returned in 100% working order?
A- Yes, once again we don’t touch the mechanism.
Q- Can I just purchase the webbing and do this myself or have someone else do it?
A- Yes however we don't recommend it unless you or your tech has good knowledge of seat belts otherwise even the most experience technician could mess up your re tractor and you will have to purchase a new one.
About removing your seat belts and installing your seat belts
The best way to ensure that you will not get a warning light (Airbag Light) for 2002+ Models it is best to disconnect the battery this will eliminate possibilities of getting a malfunction light, how do you get a malfunction light? As soon as you disconnect the airbag harness connector from the re tractor and you by mistake put the key inside the ignition to listen to the radio while your working or to unlock the steering or to start the car to move it you will get an error light which means that you will have to clear it and if you don't have a proper scanner you will need to get it cleared by your Indy Shop or Automotive Dealer. So please just disconnect the battery.
We have no particular guide for seat belt removal however you will need plastic pry tools to pop the trims without damaging any trims or you can use Flathead screwdriver carefully by taping the end of it. Obviously basic tools such has ratchet with sockets is required for seat belt removal. Check the various Porsche forums for DIY's.
MANY OF THESE QUESTIONS WE GET FROM OUR CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY GET THE SEATBELTS BACK
Customer John Doe
Hello Sir I received my seat belts however they are locked I can't retract them ?
Maxspeed Rep.
Hello John Doe, you may have not noticed but prior to sending me your seat belts if you would have verified they are locked and you can't retract them, so once you have removed them from the pillars they automatically lock, they will only retract when you put them back and bolt them back in their original position. So to answer your question they are not defective, just install them bolt them up and they will retract.
