NHP Exhaust Cat-Bypass Pipes for the Porsche 996, these will fit all 996 Models C2, C4, C4S. If you wanted a cheap upgrade for sound and HP Gains these bypass pipes do the trick, you will improve the sound of your exhaust and get some HP gains, typically cat-bypass pipes will get you an additional 10 HP. The exhaust sound is fabulous with the cat-bypass. The factory catalytic Converters are very restrictive and if there’s one place you should start working on when improving the exhaust system it's the catalytic converters that require the most attention. The NHP 996 Cat-Bypass Pipes fit like a glove, they mount like the originals and O2 sensors fit perfectly like the originals.
These Cat-Bypass pipes offer a nice 6 lbs weight reduction as follow:
OEM Cat-Pipes: 18 lbs + (L+R)
NHP Cat-Bypass Pipes: 8.4 lbs (L+R)
They are made of Stainless Steel and will last you a lifetime, don't pay more elsewhere get the best here.
Important Information: These pipes are not street legal, they are meant for off-road use only, they are widely used in racing, installing these cat-bypass pipes will cause the malfunction warning light to come on your instrument cluster, you can install our 02 mini-cats bung to help avoid a C.E.L or an ECU flash will correct this issue.
NOTE ABOUT INSTALLATION.
1999-2001 996 3.4L When connecting your 02 sensor the O2 sensor wiring may require additional SECURING with zip ties, due to the different location of the O2 sensor holes on the bypass pipes this is completely normal.
2002-2005 996 3.6L Your Pre-Cat O2 sensors will hook up normally to its connectors on the car side these are the Blue Wiring O2 Sensors. For the Black Wiring O2 Sensors (After Cat) the Bank 1 Sensor will have to be connected to the Bank 2 Connector on the Car Side and vice versa. This means that if you ever need to read data for whatever reason, Bank 1 After Cat O2 Sensor is really Bank 2 from your scanner and vice versa. This is because the after cat O2 sensor wiring will now be too short when installing cat-bypass pipes so they must be criss crossed , this will not affect performance or reliability of the engine, just readings when obtaining data with a scanner will be reversed.
Below is a video showing what the NHP Exhaust 997 cat-bypass sound like with the OEM Exhaust Headers and Mufflers. The 996 sound is very similar to the 997 sound as shown in the video below.
